Queplix Brings Power of Data Virtualization to Extract, Transform, and Load Process with New Virtual ETL Solution

ETL Teams Can Integrate On-premise and Cloud Applications Easily, Quickly and Cost Effectively with VirtualETL and CloudETL Product Families - http://bit.ly/fqUD4y

Queplix™ Corp., a leader in data virtualization, today announced two new product families that bring the power of data virtualization to the difficult task of extract, transform and load (ETL). VirtualETL™ and CloudETL™ radically simplify the ETL process, enabling users to configure Queplix's Application Software Blades™, providing easy and automatic connections to target applications and reducing the time required to integrate applications by up to 75 percent or more. The VirtualETL family includes enterprise-class VirtualETL, which allows ETL teams to connect any two enterprise applications together, and professional-class VirtualETL, which allows users to connect any two applications that use relational database management systems. With CloudETL, users can connect any two cloud-based applications or connect a cloud-based application with one that is on-premise.

"ETL teams love our Virtual Data Manager™, and now our new products give them the power and cost savings provided by advanced data virtualization at the price-points of legacy ETL," said Mark Cashman, CEO, Queplix. "No one else packages this much capability at this price. The ability to use data virtualization for ETL changes everything; now ETL teams can mix any combination of relational, object, cloud or XML-based applications. And they don't need to use SQL to set up connectivity, define the transforms, normalize the data, tune data quality or get the integration into production. We've essentially turned the cost model upside down, lowering product costs and dramatically reducing set-up costs."

Products Meet Full Range of ETL Needs
The new Queplix product family covers the full range of applications that ETL teams deal with, including enterprise, relational database management and cloud-based applications.

• Enterprise-class VirtualETL products allow users to connect any two applications together. One of the applications may be SAP® and PeopleSoft®; either may be connected with any other single enterprise application or customer application that uses any relational database. Users can choose from any of Queplix's Application Software Blades to license and configure a VirtualETL system that meets their needs.
• Professional-class VirtualETL products allow users to connect any two applications that use relational database management systems. These applications are generally custom developed and do not have an API; they may use Microsoft SQL Server®, IBM DB2® or MYSQL® in any combination. Professional-class VirtualETL supports all three past releases of these products; upon request, the company will also provide support to organizations running older versions. The products include a license for a Queplix Application Software Blade™ for the necessary relational databases.
• CloudETL lets users connect any two cloud-based applications or connect a cloud-based application with a relational database application that is not cloud based. The product includes out-of-the-box support for Netsuite® and SalesForce®; users may also choose from Taleo®, RightNow®, relational applications (including on-premise applications) and other popular cloud-based applications. A “One Hour” integration kit provides everything users need to rapidly and effectively integrate and align customer data, resolve data quality problems, and rapidly move integrated sources into production. CloudETL includes a license for any two Queplix Application Software Blades required.

Both VirtualETL and CloudETL include optional right-sized bundles of professional services that make it easy for users to get to production quickly.

Cost-Effective Products Deploy Quickly
"Pricing for our VirtualETL software solutions starts at $9,999, an aggressive price even compared to many legacy ETL licenses," said Michael Zuckerman, Chief Marketing Officer, Queplix. "No one else has packaged this much - and certainly not with the power of advanced data virtualization in an ETL replacement product at this price level. Data virtualization enables a true abstraction layer that makes VirtualETL much easier to setup and use. Our Application Software Blades take away the complexity associated with proprietary APIs found in applications such as PeopleSoft® or SAP®. They can easily connect you with your Salesforce®, Netsuite®, Taleo® or RightNow® cloud. All of this reduces implementation time and total cost of ownership by 75 percent or more over legacy ETL tools."
The Queplix professional services team or certified Queplix partners can provide cost-effective support to those who need it.

Pricing and Availability
VirtualETL and CloudETL are available immediately. Enterprise-class VirtualETL is priced at $14,999 for any single enterprise application and a relational database. The price for two enterprise applications is $19,999. Professional-class VirtualETL provides connectivity for any two applications for $9,999. CloudETL provides connectivity for any two applications for $9,999. Monthly pricing models are also available to fit cloud and SaaS deployment budgets.

Queplix Data Virtualization and Hadoop: Marriage Made in Heaven - http://bit.ly/hfGvsi

Queplix Data Virtualization and Hadoop - Marriage Made in Heaven

Queplix CTO Steve Yaskin comments on new technology developments impacting data virtualization business - http://bit.ly/hfGvsi

Steve Yaskin, CTO Queplix

Recently, there has been a lot of news covering advances in parallel processing frameworks, such as Hadoop. Some innovative data warehouse software vendors are increasingly starting to research new development strategies that parallel processing offers. So far, the majority of thsee efforts were targeted at improving the performance and optimization maps of queries within the traditional physical data warehouse architectures. For example, traditional data warehouse vendors like Teradata joined the Hadoop movement and applied parallel processing to their physical DW infrastructures. Companies like Yahoo and Amazon are also spearheading map/reduce Hadoop adaption for large data scale analytics.

I have been monitoring advances in the Hadoop front in particular, as I believe it will provide grounds for convergence for our products and a new development direction for Queplix Data Virtualization. Data virtualization and Hadoop are born from the same premise – provide data storage scalability and ease of information access and sharing and I see how the two technologies complement each other perfectly.

Hadoop’s data warehouse infrastructure (Hive) is what we are researching now to integrate with Queplix Data Virtualization products. Hive is a data warehouse infrastructure built on top of Hadoop that provides tools to enable easy data summarization, adhoc querying and analysis of large datasets stored in Hadoop files. It provides a mechanism to put structure on this data and it also provides a simple query language called Hive QL. Queplix Data Virtualization will soon utilize the flexibility of its object-oriented data modeling combined with the massive power of Hadoop parallel processing to build virtual data warehouse solutions. Imagine the analytical performance of such a virtual data warehouse solution created by using the Virtual Metadata Catalog and Virtual Entities in its base as organizational and hierarchal units (instead of traditional tables and columns and SQL-driven access). Such “virtual” data warehouse solutions would be a perfect fit for large scale operational and analytical processing, data quality and data governance projects with the full power of Queplix heuristic and semantic data analysis. Today, data virtualization solutions are deployed by many larger enterprises to gain visibility into disperse application data silos without disrupting the original sources and applications; in the near future Data Virtualization and Hadoop-based virtual data warehouse solutions will be deployed in tandem to implement the full spectrum of data management enterprise solutions, ranging from larger-scale data integration projects (i.e. massive application data store mergers as a result of M&As between large companies) all the way to Virtual Master Data Management pioneered by Queplix. Such solutions will not only provide a better abstraction and business continuity for enterprise applications but will also utilize the full power of parallel processing and provide immense scalability to Queplix semantic data analytics and data alignment products.

Here are some new and exciting ideas Queplix is working on now:

• utilizing Hadoop for Virtual CEP (Complex Event Processing) within Queplix Virtual Metadata Catalog
• generating “data steward” real-time alerts using predictive data lineage analysis before data quality problems start to affect your enterprise applications
• implementing Hadoop-based virtual data warehouse solutions to provide high availability for large application stores that require massive analytics and semantic data processing
• large-scale Virtual Master Data Management initiatives involving enterprise-wide customer or product catalog building
• large-scale business intelligence projects based on Queplix Virtual Metadata Catalog

Queplix CEO discusses data virtualization and its impact on business intelligence, data integration and more - http://bit.ly/g00GOJ

Queplix CEO Shares His View And Insights On The State Of Data Virtualization And Trends Within Technology And Industry That Are Driving It Forward

Data Virtualization’s Impact on Business Intelligence, Data Integration and More - http://bit.ly/g00GOJ

Some things should make you stand up and take notice; data virtualization is one of those things. Certainly virtualization as a technology or category is no longer new. But data virtualization is one of the emerging segments in virtualization that has now reached critical mass. All of the same drivers make it compelling - lower cost, lower risk and higher return on investment.

Data virtualization is the process of identifying, packaging, moving and ultimately storing your data without physically making additional copies throughout the process. Data virtualization creates a layer between applications and their data so that you can use the data, to your benefit. This virtual layer allows you to unlock your data from proprietary applications to get the utility you need. Data virtualization separates the applications from your data such that you can use the data in new ways.

Data virtualization has been cast by some as a replacement to ETL, EAI or EII. It is far more substantial - data virtualization is enabling you to do things you have not been able to do before without a tremendous amount of work, and with greater return on investment and lower risk.

As a proof point I would suggest doing a little research on which companies are now marketing themselves as data virtualization vendors. Here you will find some household names from the technology company roster. These vendors understand the challenges the enterprise face and want to cash in on the action. But, of course, it is often the case of finding a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Their primary business model is wrapped around legacy technology. For some, the complexity of their approach brings so much customization that there is more revenue in the services than in the software product. Surely the model is upside down - we can help you fix it.

So, do your research and consider taking on change.

Stand up and take notice of the challenges you have faced to date and ask yourself does the existing way of managing my data really work? Can I achieve my goals and objectives using existing tools and technology, and how long will it take? The comfortable or easy bet didn’t get you to where you are today. Reach out explore other opportunities and realize another evolution surrounds you. Don’t become extinct like the dinosaurs! The nimble market leaders across all industries know how to use new and innovative technologies that offer competitive advantage. Faster development cycles, lower risk and greater return on investment are more important than ever. Data virtualization can bring you all of this across applications for data discovery, business intelligence, data integration, data management, governance, quality, compliance and much more

In my next blog post I will explore how this new approach streamlines many of the tasks you perform today simply and more cost effectively.

New Queplix Virtual Migration Manager Reduces Data Migration Time From Months To Days, And Cuts Implementation Costs By As Much As 75 Percent

Queplix Continues to Build out its Data Virtualization Platform to Address Growing Industry Data Management and Integration Challenges

SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 9, 2011 – Queplix™ Corp., a leader in data virtualization, today introduced the Queplix Virtual Migration Manager™, a new module of the Queplix Virtual Data Manager™ platform that enables users to migrate data quickly and easily from one application to another. With Virtual Migration Manager, companies can reduce migration time from months to days, and cut costs by as much as 75 percent.

Given the demands of a global market and the need for data that is available around-the-clock, the challenges of data migration have grown significantly more difficult. The speed at which systems change, along with the proliferation of new cloud and on-premise systems, heightens these challenges even further.

"Everyone is talking about the integrated systems and vertical solution stacks coming to market," said Julie Lockner, vice president and senior analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group. "Most are forgetting about how we will get the data into these systems from our existing applications. In addition, legacy systems are going to be retired while the data – often needed for compliance, legal, or other reasons – sticks around. Data migration and integration solutions such as those offered by Queplix, address a real need that enterprises face today. Organizations need simpler, lower cost alternatives to existing ETL methods so they spend less time integrating and migrating data, and more time leveraging it."

Queplix Virtual Migration Manager substantially simplifies and streamlines the migration process – absolutely no SQL is required. Until now, data migration required a series of laborious steps: topology and data schema analysis, creation of thousands of lines of code, ETL tools and "wire frame" diagram tools to match up data points, and more. The legacy approach is a lengthy process often requiring the expertise and expense of consultants, making the export and import of data very difficult. Queplix redefines the data migration and integration process, and eliminates the complexity and associated costs.

The powerful architecture of the Queplix Virtual Data Manager, which drives the application and integration process, includes a series of intelligent Application Software Blades™ that identify and extract key data and associated security information from many different target applications such as Salesforce® (NYSE: CRM), Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), and others. The blades move physical data from the abstraction layer of the source application, to the Queplix persistent metadata catalog where the data is automatically harmonized with other systems.

Because Virtual Data Manager stores metadata, not data, it is a thousand times faster than a database engine. The system can handle a simple migration from one application to another, or scale easily to migrate data from old systems into multiple instances of a complex application such as Siebel® (ORCL: NASDAQ) and SAP® (SAP: NYSE ADR).

Case Study
A Fortune® 100 company is using Queplix Virtual Data Manager and Virtual Migration Manager to align its business-critical data in SAP® with several other customer database applications to enhance its customer relationship management (CRM). The customer needed to migrate data from a mission-critical end-of-life legacy application, to a newer cloud-based CRM application without disrupting users who access the information from around the world.

The customer, a retailer with sales in excess of $10 billion and a data intensive enterprise computing environment, selected Queplix because it:

• completely automates both initial set-up and ongoing Data Harmonization™ to ensure a consistent view of information used by different systems;
• allows the company to easily add more applications and integration points as needed for scalability; and,
• provided a simple and easy to use object interface that lets business users participate in the integration design and implementation, without requiring the use of any SQL programming.

As a result, overall estimated implementation time and expense for the Queplix customer were cut by more than 75 percent using Virtual Data Manager and Virtual Migration Manager as compared to alternative data integration and management strategies.

"Companies such as the retail customer we're working with face a problem that will only continue to escalate - the need to migrate corporate data with newer applications, as well as an increasing number of applications that do not share a consistent and common data set," said Mark Cashman, CEO, Queplix. "This is particularly true with CRM applications where it is essential to have an accurate view of your customer. Data that is kept consistent across applications enhances customer service, marketing and sales, and many other business functions. Queplix has the unique ability to present a single view of data regardless of where it resides or how it is used across multiple applications, and keep it harmonized around the clock. This is a huge benefit to our customers and we expect to see continued interest and heightened momentum as we progress into 2011."
